A Lifetime Later, the Truth Finally Spills Out
At 75 years old, actress and songwriter Linda Thompson has broken decades of silence to speak openly about the man who changed her life forever — Elvis Presley.
In a heartfelt new interview, she revealed what many had long suspected but never heard her say so plainly:
“Elvis Presley was the love of my life. No one before or since has filled that place in my heart.”
The admission, delivered with both pride and sorrow, has stirred a wave of emotion among fans of the King — and reopened the story of one of his most famous romances.
Meeting the King
Linda first met Elvis in July 1972, at a private movie screening in Memphis. She was just 22 at the time, a former beauty queen with a quiet charm that instantly caught his attention. What followed was a four-year relationship that saw her move into Graceland and become one of the closest people in his inner circle.
“We shared a home, our days, our nights… our lives,” she recalled. “He wasn’t just Elvis to me — he was a man with hopes, fears, and dreams he rarely showed the world.”
The Joy and the Strain
Linda described their time together as filled with laughter, late-night conversations, and spontaneous trips — but also the pressures of Elvis’s fame, the demands of touring, and the constant presence of those who wanted a piece of him.
“I loved him completely, but I couldn’t save him from the weight of being Elvis Presley,” she admitted.
Their relationship ended in late 1976, less than a year before his death. Despite the separation, Linda remained one of his fiercest defenders.
Holding On to the Memories
Over the years, Linda has kept mementos from their time together — handwritten notes, photographs, and even jewelry Elvis gave her. She says she revisits them often, especially on August 16, the anniversary of his passing.
“Every year, I still feel it — the absence. But I also feel gratitude that I got to love him, and be loved by him, even for a short time.”
Why She’s Speaking Out Now
When asked why she chose to make such a public confession in 2025, Linda said it was about honoring his memory while she still could.
“I don’t know how much time any of us have left. I want the world to understand that beyond the legend, there was a man who loved deeply. And I was blessed to be part of that love story.”
A Love That Never Faded
Though she went on to marry twice and have children, Linda admits no relationship has ever been quite the same.
“Life moves on, but the heart remembers. My heart will always remember Elvis.”
